The first statewide analysis of the impact of Medicaid expansion on the state was done by researchers at the University of Alabama who estimated that approximately 300,000 Alabamians would receive coverage and that the cost to the state was basically negligible due to the federal funding and additional taxes and economic impact generated.  Read more.
